The Hevrayah Program for Professional Alumni
"I believe my learning through IJS has helped me to become a better listener, a more thoughtful person, a rabbi more committed to making time for learning and the care of the soul." - Rabbinic member of Hevraya
"I learned how to speak a really deep truth." Rabbinic member of Hevraya
The process of spiritual growth and the challenge to stay awake in this life are never-ending. It is critical for us to help our participants stay connected past the time when they have engaged in their particular program. Participants need one another for support in their personal lives, as well as to share ideas about how to move this agenda more deeply into the Jewish community.
Alumni from the rabbinic, cantorial and educators' programs are invited to:
- participate in ongoing, directed hevruta study of hasidic texts;
- two semi-annual five-day retreats to study, pray, meditate, talk and share the fruits of their personal and professional work;
- spiritual direction with an IJS staff member or others;
- participation in the online Hevraya Resource Bank including best practices;
- regional gatherings.
